Questions? Email Us

There are many ways you can support the RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School. As you explore the possibilities, please give us a call so that we can assist you, and make sure you check with your financial advisor.

ANNUAL GIVING

Your annual gift allows us to continue providing our community with access to exceptional performances and music education. Every gift, no matter the amount, makes an impact and is gratefully appreciated. Donations make up over 45% of our annual budget and are crucially important every year.

LEARN MORE

A gift of appreciated securities held for more than one year may provide significant benefits to you as a contributor

  • Entitling you to a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gifted securities as of the date of gift.

  • Eliminating capital gains tax that would ordinarily become due if you had sold the appreciated securities on the open market and donated the proceeds from the sale to charity

 Donation Options

Honor & Memorial Gifts

One way to convey your sympathy and respect for a loved one is by giving a gift in that person’s memory or honor. When you make a memorial or honor donation, we send you an acknowledgement of your gift. We also send a note to the individual or the family of the person who is being honored or remembered, so they know a gift was made.

Matching Gifts

“Double your impact”. Many employers have matching gift programs through which you can double and sometimes triple your gift. Simply ask your company if it has a matching gift program for cultural organizations and/or educational institutions, then contact the Development Department to submit the form with your contribution.

Gift Planning

Leaving a bequest is an easy way to make a gift through your estate that will not affect your current cash flow and may offer future tax savings. If your plans change, such gifts are generally revocable. Here are a few opportunities to consider:

Leave a bequest through your Will or Revocable Trust

(sample language)

I give the sum of ____________to the RIPOMS of East Providence, RI to support general operations

 or

I give _________% to the RIPOMS of East Providence, RI to support general operations

For preferred purpose: I give__________ to RIPOMS ….in support of the Orchestra/Music School/Scholarship/Education concerts. If it becomes impossible to accomplish the purpose of the gift as described, the Executive Director and the Board of Directors may designate this bequest to be used for a similar purpose.

Name RIPO&MS as a beneficiary of a retirement plan

Simply use your retirement plan’s beneficiary designation form to indicate an amount or percentage you would like to leave to RIPOMS (funds will be distributed to RIPOMS directly tax free and outside of your estate avoiding estate taxes) and you can continue to draw down funds during your lifetime.

Name RIPO&MS as a beneficiary of an Insurance policy

If you have an insurance policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose, it may be a great asset to use for a charitable donation with tax benefits for you.

Forever

Preserving and building upon the accomplishments of our unique orchestra and music school is the mission of the Francis Madeira Society, whose members have made provisions for the RIPO&MS in their estate plans.

Named in honor of Francis KC Madeira, Conductor Emeritus, and founder of the RIPO, a visionary who knew the importance of establishing a world-class orchestra in Rhode Island and believed in the power of music education and community engagement.

By informing the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School of your estate plans you become a member of the Francis Madeira Society and:

· Encourage others to leave a legacy

· Allow us to honor you during your lifetime

· Make it possible for the organization to plan for its future

When making a legacy gift to benefit the RIPO&MS, please use the following legal name and address: RIPO&MS 667 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI 02915

Endowment Gifts

When you make a gift to the endowment of the RIPO&MS , you join with others who help to ensure the future of the organization -one that will benefit students, audience members, faculty and musicians for generations to come. Endowment gifts strengthen RIPO&MS by supporting scholarship, by helping us to attract and retain faculty members, orchestra musicians and staff, and they help us to continue building our reputation and planning for the future with confidence.
